Is Your Website Horrible? Do You Have a Website That’s Under Construction? STOP IT!

It amazes me how many agencies and designers have horrible websites. So horrible that I guarantee you they are losing business. And the worst thing of all is that they know their website is horrible.

I hear the excuses all the time: that they are too busy and don’t have time to work on their own website. I’ve got news for you, if you’re too busy you ARE NOT CHARGING ENOUGH, but that is another topic (which you can check out here).

If your agency website is crappy and you know it, STOP!

What is an easy, quick solution for this horrific faux pas? 

Some people put a ‘Coming Soon’ page with their portfolio. What’s wrong with that you ask? Well, what they are missing is they are only focusing on themselves. They are not focused on their visitor and potential client.  There’s nowhere to capture the visitors’ information.

My solution?

Take down your crappy site. Design a landing page that says who you are, who you serve,  and what common problems you solve. Most importantly, develop some kind of opt-in that the visitor will want, come up with something of value you can give your target for free.

For example, offer the top 5 tools to use for a particular market or top 5 things you need to do with your marketing. The key is providing value to your target market. (If your target market is simply “small businesses,” you don’t have a focused enough target. Click here if that is the case.) This all can be done in a couple of hours. So no excuses!

This is a temporary fix that can have big impact.
